eMMe

A mobile app to record details of situations where users experience strong emotions and the way they react to them. Designed to help develop emotional intelligence skills through a process of self-reflection.

Contributions

User acceptance testing (UAT) to verify if the developed solution met user's needs.

Process

  • Recruited 5 volunteer participants from target audience.
  • Arranged 5 observers to conduct in-person test.
  • Hired devices to test with, and side-loaded the app.
  • Wrote interview process for the observers, including a series of routine tasks to test and open-ended questions to gain further insights.
  • Welcomed and briefed participants (and observers) on what to expect.
  • While participants completed the tasks, observers recorded notes based on the participant's comments and how they navigated and interacted with the app.
  • Collated results in a report with recommended changes and their justifications, rated by severity.

Outcome

Recommended changes were accepted by product owner and implemented by app developers. Improved before and after score on a Usability Metric for User Experience (UMUX) survey of users. Results convinced stakeholders to continue including usability testing on future iterations.
